Dating Out of Boredom
Dear Bitter Single Guy: My boyfriend and I have been going out for about 3 1/2 months. I'm not in love with him, and I doubt he's in love with me. This is not to say that I don't like him a lot - I really do. But at what point should we end this if we aren't in love? Could we still fall in love with each other, or is it too late? The possibility that we're only dating each other out of boredom or loneliness is rather depressing. -- Dumb Belle
Dear D.B.: The Bitter Single Guy doesn't find dating out of boredom depressing at all! Bored by yourself, or bored with someone else? Why not!
Deciding whether to go on depends on what you're trying to accomplish here. If you're husband hunting but have taken your sights off this plump buck, it may be time to abandon this trail and choose a different part of the forest. (Suddenly, the B.S.G. finds himself in a hunting metaphor!) On the other hand, if you're not ready to pull the trigger just yet, a hike in the woods with a relatively agreeable target is not a bad way to pass the time. -- B.S.G.
