Long Distance Relationship Fizzles
I've been seeing my boyfriend for nearly a year and the relationship has been long distance for a few months. Six weeks after I last saw him I asked (via email) when we are seeing each other again and he tells me he's busy for the next 4 months. So I emailed back that I needed to end things between us. Now I feel like we haven't really broken up because it was by email and because of his complete lack of reaction. How long will it take for me to realize we are broken up? And why do I feel as though HE dumped ME? Dumpee or Dumper
Dear DOD: The Bitter Single Guy's blood is boiling on your behalf as he reads your letter. You see, the BSG himself has found himself forced to make a tough relationship-ending decision because someone else lacked sufficient spine-age to make the leap. The BSG is willing to accept that there are two or more versions of every relationship drama scene and your Boy Fiend (no misspelling there) probably has his reasons for being spineless. Please, DOD, encourage this Boy Fiend to reach out to the Bitter Single Guy with his version of why he was unable to find his jewels long enough to end a relationship he just can't make any time for in a 4 month period.
Instead DOD, you were forced by his indecision to make a decision. The reason you feel as if he dumped you, even though the dumping words came from your lips (or keyboard in your case) is that you are subconsciously recognizing that the action should have been his. Comfort yourself in the fact that you had sufficient spine for both of you and DON'T contact him in a month…let him contact you. The BSG predicts that he won't, indicating that it's past time to cut the cord.
