Advice for the Younger Set

Dear Bitter Single Guy: I feel really young seeing as all your other readers are over 20 or whatever. I'm in high school and I have really loved this guy since like 2003, so it's been a while. We went as dates to this really romantic school dance and it seemed like he wanted to date me and everything. Then he said "I'm glad we can do this as friends, I'm not ready to be boyfriend and girlfriend". I don't know what to do. I can't just give up on him, I love him too much. I am confused about what I should do. Please help! -- Want my High School Sweetheart Back

Dear W.H.S.S.B.: The Bitter Single Guy is always pleased to hear from the younger side of his readership; he finds that you whipper-snappers are not quite as bitter and jaded as your more aged (past 20) counterparts. Fear not, this will happen for you, too (aged counterparts are nodding their heads).

W.H.S.S.B., the BSG is usually of the opinion that giving up on faltering relationships is the best decision. Once there's one spot of mold on the Wonder Bread, it's usually safe to assume it's all going to be a green, fuzzy, heaving mass of nastiness. The BSG is surprised at how much bread mold accurately describes some relationships!

In your case though, the BSG is feeling optimistic. You have boundless amounts of energy to pursue doomed relationships, so the BSG wants you to scrape that mold off and take a big bite! Keep working on this Hesitant Hunk and be patient. Eventually you'll wear him down and he'll be yours.
